Every summer, members of Scott Valley Fire gather to heat up the grills, dole out the potato salad, and pass around the cherry pie. It’s the annual Summer Barbecue, a chance to meet socially and tell dubious stories about long-ago fire runs. Bring a Paul Bunyan appetite, as well a nice dessert, and the entire family.
In December, we organize a holiday party and awards ceremony, punctuated with good food and good cheer.
And in spring, Scott Valley volunteers, having practiced their barrel rolls and distance-spraying skills, gather for competition at the regional Firefighters’ Muster. It’s a hoot—and instructive as well, considering the innovations in fire gear and safety methods that invariably surface.
