A fifth generation Californian, Nancy Appling Salucci and her husband, Robert, joined Scott Valley Fire Protection District in 1984 as volunteer firefighters. She was the first female SVFPD firefighter. Noting the lack of medical care in the rural south end of Scott Valley (4.7 miles outside downtown Callahan--Population 34), Nancy became an EMT. She was eventually asked to serve as Board Secretary and currently holds the position of Administrative Officer.
